The Edelrid OHM II is an assisted-braking resistor designed for climbing partners with a significant weight difference. Attached to the first bolt, it increases friction during a fall to reduce the force placed on a lighter belayer and help prevent them being pulled upwards or into the wall.

The second-generation design features a swivel joint for easier clipping in either direction and an improved locking system for simple rope installation. It doesn’t create additional friction while paying out rope, but activates progressively during a fall and also provides greater control when lowering a heavier climber.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Supports unevenly weighted climbing pairs – Effectively makes the lead climber feel approximately 25kg lighter during a fall.

  • Reduced force on the belayer – Helps prevent a lighter belayer being pulled upwards or into the wall.

  • Progressive braking action – Adds friction smoothly rather than stopping the rope abruptly.

  • Improved swivel joint – Allows the OHM II to be clipped to the first bolt in either direction.

  • Smooth rope handling – Does not add friction while paying out rope during normal climbing.

  • Controlled lowering – Makes lowering a heavier climber easier.

  • Durable construction – Built with aluminium, steel and polyamide components.

Specifications
