Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) Hire

Pre-book and rent a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) for your outdoor adventures across Nelson Tasman.

Whether you are out hiking, hunting, camping, paddling, or climbing, ensure your safety by hiring a small, lightweight Personal Locator Beacon from us for reliable emergency back up.  The ACR ResQLink’s satellite precision and military durability, put rescue in the palm of your hands by sending your GPS location via satellite to notify rescue services of your location.  The PLB is waterproof and buoyant too for water based adventures.

Rental Prices:

Your hire includes a PLB, instructions, pouch and dry bag.

The costs of our PLB hire is $15 per day, exclusive of pick up and return days.

Pick up is after 12pm, and drop off must be before 12pm. Late drop off will be charged for an extra day.

Requirements:

• PLB hire can only be booked 15 days in advance.
• Must be 18 years or older to rent.
• Signed rental agreement required.
• Credit or debit card or valid identification provided as a security deposit held for the duration of your hire, returned when you return the PLB.

How It Works:

1. Reserve Online: Select your rental period and complete the booking process below.
2. Receive Your PLB: Pick up in-store from MD Outdoors during our open hours
3. Enjoy Your Adventure: Carry the ResQLink with you on your outdoor adventure.
4. Return: Drop off at MD Outdoors when you are done.

We suggest renting in advance, but we may have some available to rent on a walk in basis, but we cannot guarantee availability.  

We also hire out crampons and ice axes too at $15 per day.
