Explore Gentle Annie Campground, West Coast

Each week, we highlight our fave tramping trails in New Zealand for day and multi day hikes across Nelson Tasman (and beyond!)

Pure west coast magic: Gentle Annie’s is sandwiched right between the rugged Tasman Sea and the lush Nikau-fringed forest of the Kahurangi National Park.

Located 50km north of Westport, it’s only a short jaunt to a bunch of incredible sites & attractions in the region if you’re feeling adventurous. Otherwise if a lowkey beach holiday is more your vibe, let the kids run wild and hike, bike, fish, swim & laze the week away.

From Nelson: 4 hours | 264km

The Campsites:

Private, sheltered campsites are set amongst landscaped gardens, and are all within a few minutes walk to the river and the beach. Dogs are welcome (yay!), and there are some fantastic facilities including a camp kitchen, pizza oven, laundry, coffee shop & hot tubs!!

Accommodation:

If you’re more of a bougee camper, there are also some gorgeous self-contained cabins and lodges available. They can even cater up to large groups of 27! Duvets, pillows & blankets are supplied, and linen can be supplied for an additional fee so you don’t have to worry about the extra packing!
